California State Senator Scott Wiener (D–San Francisco) has introduced a new bill that could significantly change how cities get their electricity. Senate Bill 875 would allow cities across California to essentially “break up” with Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) — the state’s largest investor-owned utility — and pursue alternative options for providing power to residents.
