As California’s wildfire season is set to worsens, lawmakers talked briefly about the state’s seven-year-old wildfire fund, which is now projected to cost California’s taxpayers roughly $39 billion. The frustration, secrecy and chaos surrounding data center development proposals in Pennsylvania has spawned a Virtual Town Hall that will be attended by a number of state lawmakers but Gov. Josh Shapiro's office has shunned the event. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp slashed $300 million from the fiscal year 2027 budget he said is due to tax cuts he signed on Monday. Senate Majority Leader John Kavanagh said the Arizona Legislature may sue Pima County after state Attorney General Kris Mayes sided with the border county on its resolution limiting cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani rolled out a balanced budget Tuesday that closes an estimated $12 billion revenue gap he inherited from previous administrations.
