DESCRIPTION
Hundreds of residents, business owners, and community members gathered on Aurora Avenue North to demand action on crime, shootings, prostitution, and human trafficking in one of Seattle's most troubled corridors.
The rally comes after residents shared stories of gunfire striking homes and neighborhoods, including one resident who told city leaders that a bullet passed just feet from his infant child's bedroom. Community members say violence and trafficking have become increasingly visible and are calling on city leaders to take stronger action.
The concerns also arrive just days before Seattle hosts World Cup matches, with some advocates warning that major international events can attract additional trafficking activity. Former Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison is among those calling for additional resources and a stronger public safety response.
