New data is raising serious questions about government spending, accountability, and results in Los Angeles' homelessness programs. According to information shared with Los Angeles officials and members of the media, homelessness in Los Angeles has increased by 100%, while the number of homeless individuals receiving free housing has increased by 212%. At the same time, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) reportedly received more federal taxpayer funding than any other homeless agency in the nation. In 2024 alone, the agency received more than $220 million, and total funding since 2021 has approached $1 billion.
