California drivers are set to pay more at the pump as the state's gasoline tax increases by 2.2 cents per gallon on July 1, bringing the total state gas tax to 63.4 cents per gallon. The increase comes as California continues to have the highest average gasoline prices in the nation, renewing debate over fuel taxes, energy policy, and the state's cost of living.
