DESCRIPTION
Washington's battle over the income tax repeal initiative is now headed to the Washington Supreme Court after citizen challenger Arthur West filed an emergency appeal seeking to overturn a Thurston County judge's ruling on the ballot's Public Investment Impact Disclosure (PIID). With the August 21 ballot deadline approaching, supporters are asking the high court to act quickly.
Supporters of Initiative 645 argue the Attorney General's ballot language is politically biased and factually inaccurate because the income tax has not yet generated any revenue. They contend the disclosure wrongly claims repealing the tax would reduce funding for education and human services.
The episode also includes reaction from Let's Go Washington, Arthur West, and Washington Democratic Party Chair Shasti Conrad as the legal and political battle over the state's new income tax continues.
