Georgia City School Board 'Burned Through' $20M in COVID-relief Funding

Georgia's Dublin City School District is facing serious financial scrutiny after years of budget problems and questions surrounding the use and reporting of taxpayer-funded education dollars. The Georgia State Board of Education voted to recommend suspending the Dublin City Board of Education after a nearly 12-hour hearing focused on the district's financial problems. Testimony raised questions about millions of dollars in COVID-era education funding, unpaid obligations, inconsistent financial reporting and whether the district could meet its budget commitments.
