Taxpayer funding flowing to nonprofits has more than doubled over the past decade, according to data obtained by The Center Square. The data discussed in the report shows that taxpayers provided approximately $149 billion to nonprofits in 2016, compared with roughly $319 billion in 2022. David Williams, president of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance, argues that nonprofits should primarily survive through voluntary support and the goodwill of donors rather than relying on taxpayer dollars.
