Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson Faces Brutal New Poll as 66% Disapprove

A new poll is raising questions about Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson’s standing with voters just months into her first year in office and as she faces a newly filed recall challenge. According to polling from Change Washington conducted August 13–17, 22% of Seattle voters surveyed approved of Wilson’s job performance while 66% disapproved, with 12% unsure. The poll also found 60% saying Wilson should resign or be removed from office. The numbers come as Wilson faces continued scrutiny over Seattle public safety, including the response to the Bite of Seattle shooting, the departure of former Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes and the severance package he received. A separate recent survey from Fulcrum Strategy Group focused specifically on public safety and found significant skepticism among respondents about whether Wilson has an effective plan to improve safety in Seattle.
