Seattle Times Sportswriter Quits Over Rejected Girls Sports Story

A longtime Seattle Times sportswriter has resigned after editors declined to publish his column featuring two Washington female athletes who oppose competing against biological males. Matt Calkins spent 11 years at The Seattle Times before submitting a column centered on student athletes who have become prominent voices in Washington's debate over girls sports. After editors ultimately decided not to publish the piece, Calkins says he gave his notice. Calkins later published his own account of why he resigned, setting off a wave of national attention.
