DESCRIPTION
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson is facing another troubling poll as her favorability continues to decline just months into her first year in office.
A new poll conducted by Fulcrum Strategy Group for the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce found Wilson's favorability falling from roughly 57% in April to 37% in the latest survey — a decline of about 20 percentage points in only four months.
Pollster Andrew Thibault pointed to public safety as a likely factor behind the sharp decline, arguing that voters see safety as one of a mayor's core responsibilities and can react quickly when confidence begins to erode.
The results come as Wilson also faces a potential recall campaign. A recall petition filed in August accuses the mayor of failing in her public safety responsibilities. A King County Superior Court hearing on whether the recall can move forward is scheduled for August 31.
Washington In Focus Daily breaks down the new numbers, what's driving voter dissatisfaction and what the results could mean for Wilson as the recall fight moves forward.
