DESCRIPTION
Illinois State Rep. Amy Murie Briel is facing allegations of ethics violations from a former staffer, including claims of drug use and sexual harassment in her taxpayer-funded office. Laura Jackson, Briel's former chief of staff and campaign staffer, made the allegations public through the campaign of Liz Bishop, the GOP nominee challenging Briel in the 76th Illinois House District. In a 44-minute video released by Bishop's campaign, Jackson said Briel made sexual comments to her and other staff and used and shared drugs including Adderall and marijuana in the office. Jackson alleged Briel sexually harassed her on multiple occasions during her time on staff. Briel has said the allegations are false and called on the Legislative Ethics Commission to release its report on the matter.
