DESCRIPTION
A new Voters' Voice poll from Noble Predictive Insights surveyed over 2,500 registered voters on concerns about socialism and communism in American politics. 36% said they're very concerned and 27% somewhat concerned, with 63% expressing some level of concern overall. On the Democratic Party specifically, 44% of voters said Democratic socialists make the party seem too extreme, while 39% said they're energizing it with bold policy pushes. The poll comes amid controversy over DSA figure Gustavo Gordillo, who faces allegations he misrepresented his job status to The New York Times and failed to support union workers. New York Governor Kathy Hochul distanced herself from the controversy, saying she doesn't engage in "much thought" about who local DSA chapters choose as leaders. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani declined to directly address the allegations against Gordillo, instead praising DSA members' focus on affordability.
