Police Guild President: Seattle's Gun Violence Problem Is a Gang Problem, Not a Gun Rights Issue

Seattle Police Guild President Kent Loux argues the city's gun violence stems from teenagers and gang activity, not from law-abiding gun owners, and pushes back on what he calls attempts to use the issue to restrict gun rights. Loux says Seattle officials consistently mislabel underlying problems — citing what he characterizes as a pattern of calling a drug epidemic a "homeless problem" — and argues the city needs a functioning criminal justice response rather than treating symptoms.
