Washington Dad Says School Ignored His Religious Beliefs Over LGBT Lessons

A father says he asked his son's school to notify him about lessons involving sex, gender and LGBT-related topics because of his religious beliefs. According to the account in this interview, the school later taught a lesson involving gender-change surgeries without giving him advance notice. The father says the school ultimately told him it would not allow him to opt his child out of LGBT-related discussions, including individual conversations and counseling, which he says can involve the use of pronouns inconsistent with a person's biological sex.
