Former Washington Gov. Jay Inslee accused major oil companies of decades of deception over climate change while speaking outside the U.S. Supreme Court. Inslee called the alleged deception the “biggest lie in American history” and argued Americans should retain access to the courts to pursue accountability. His comments came as the Supreme Court considered a major case involving Boulder, Colorado's climate lawsuit against ExxonMobil and Suncor Energy. The companies dispute the allegations and argue federal law prevents the state-law claims.
