Raffensperger on Ballot Secrecy: “At the End of the Day, We Have a Secret Ballot”

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger says the upcoming election will be secure and responds to recent concerns about ballot secrecy in Georgia. He walks through what happens to a ballot after it’s cast: voters make their selections, the ballot prints and goes into a secured ballot box, results are tabulated when polls close, and ballots are stored securely for up to two years after the election. The conversation also covers how public records releases are being handled to protect ballot secrecy. Files are now routed through the Secretary of State’s office for review and redaction, and certain data points are excluded from public releases.
