WA Congressional Candidates Clash Over Iran War

Washington's 3rd Congressional District candidates, U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and state Sen. John Braun, clashed over the war in Iran during a congressional debate. With the moderator citing more than $43 billion in war-related costs, Braun pointed to his 31 years of Navy service and his family's military connections, arguing that the United States should not enter an open-ended conflict without clear objectives. Perez criticized the war's impact on American families, economic security and military personnel, saying she has voted six times to end U.S. involvement. Braun pushed back against her characterization of his position, accusing her of telling “Pinocchio stories.” Subscribe for more coverage of Washington's 3rd Congressional District, the 2026 midterm elections, U.S. foreign policy, government spending and Washington politics.
