A Detroit pastor's nonprofit reported paying him roughly $500,000. Now those tax filings are being corrected following an investigation by The Center Square. Pastor Marvin Winans, executive director of Perfecting Community Development Corporation, was listed as receiving approximately $500,000 in compensation from the nonprofit, which receives state taxpayer funds. After The Center Square reported on the filings, Winans and his accountants said the documents contained errors and needed to be amended. Winans now says he never received any money from the nonprofit. How did the reported compensation end up on the federal tax forms? #Detroit #Michigan #MarvinWinans #Nonprofit #TaxpayerFunds #GovernmentAccountability #InvestigativeJournalism
