Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and John Braun Clash in WA-03 Debate

Washington's 3rd Congressional District debate turned heated as Democratic Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican challenger John Braun clashed over President Donald Trump's Iran war, rising gas prices and affordability. During the debate hosted by KOIN, Perez criticized the war in Iran, calling it a disaster for American families and arguing that Congress should end U.S. involvement. Braun, a Washington state senator and Navy veteran, said he opposes an open-ended war without clear objectives. He also pushed back against Perez's characterization of his position, accusing her of making up “Pinocchio stories.” The candidates also faced questions about Washington's new income tax and the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program. The race for Washington's 3rd Congressional District is closely watched as Republicans seek to flip the Southwest Washington seat in the November 3 midterm election. Perez and Braun are scheduled to debate again on October 13.
