Washington state Sen. Leonard Christian is sounding the alarm over alleged daycare subsidy fraud, questioning whether taxpayer-funded childcare providers are receiving thousands of dollars without serving children. Christian says reports he has reviewed raise serious concerns about Washington's childcare subsidy system, alleging that some providers could be collecting thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars per month despite having no children in their care. “You don't get to hide what you're doing with taxpayer dollars,” Christian said, calling for greater transparency and accountability. The Washington lawmaker expressed outrage over the allegations, saying taxpayer money could instead support programs helping struggling families, people experiencing homelessness and other residents in need. Christian also accused politicians and unions of protecting those he believes are abusing the system. His comments highlight growing questions about Washington daycare subsidies, childcare funding, government oversight and the use of taxpayer dollars.
