DESCRIPTION
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and a Michigan delegation spent more than $200,000 on an eight-day trip to South Korea and Taiwan, according to records obtained by The Center Square.
Guest host Esther Wickham talks to Michigan reporter Elyse Apel who breaks down Whitmer’s travel costs. The Asia trip included $91,000 for airfare and $70,000 for hotels, and it was funded through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Michigan Economic Development Foundation. Earlier this year, Whitmer took trips to Europe and Switzerland. Her office calls the trips investment missions that are critical to the state’s business relations. Calls from both parties to abolish MEDC continue.
