DESCRIPTION
The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a challenge to admissions changes at Montgomery County, Maryland’s selective magnet middle schools, brought by families who allege the policy disadvantages Asian American students. The Association for Education Fairness, represented by the Pacific Legal Foundation, argues the district’s admissions changes are discriminatory. Montgomery County Public Schools maintains its policy is race-neutral. The justices will consider what plaintiffs must prove to show disproportionate impact, and a decision is expected in 2027.
