California lawmakers are considering SB 888, legislation that would change how disabled veterans qualify for a property tax exemption by excluding VA service-connected disability compensation from household income calculations. A separate proposal would also expand opportunities for veteran-owned businesses by increasing the value of state contracts available to disabled veteran business owners. Current law limits those contracts to $250,000, a threshold supporters argue has not kept pace with inflation. Together, the measures aim to provide additional financial relief for disabled veterans while expanding economic opportunities for veteran-owned businesses through tax policy and state contracting reforms. #Veterans #DisabledVeterans #SB888 #PropertyTaxes #TaxRelief #VeteranBenefits #SmallBusiness #Taxpayer #PublicPolicy #Politics #Military #VeteranOwnedBusiness #Government #StateLegislature #BreakingNews
